"Let all the other names fade away. Jesus take your place" -Isabel David in "wide as the sky"
The bible in Isaiah described the Kings of Kings as a very humble servant of God, one who was subjected to a very terrible situation one a criminal deserves.
"He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted"
- Isaiah 53 vs 2-4
When a criminal today is subjected to jungle justice, there is usually no sympathy from the mob. There is rather this wind of satisfaction blowing through the crowd; that feeling that a devil has been arrested and is being punished for his crime. Jesus took the place of that criminal though no sin was found in him.
"But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all"
- Isaiah 53 vs 5-6
Yet it was for our own good that he passed through this. He was disgraced so that we will be honored and be accepted as co-heirs. God honoured him greatly as the bible testifies in Philippians 2 vs 9 - 11
"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father"
Therefore we are encouraged to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal savior so that we can be entitled to the glory that awaits the Saints. No sinner will see God.
